# Create a resume from scratch

> No resume yet? Let AI build a first draft through a friendly Q&A, then refine.

Light on experience, or not sure where to start? Use AI Lab's **guided create** — it asks you questions like a chat and builds your first draft.

## How to use it

  <Step title="Open AI Lab and say your intent">
    Click **AI Assistant** to open [AI Lab](/en/guide/ai-lab), then say **"I want to create a resume from scratch, walk me through it"** (or click that suggestion).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Answer the questions">
    It asks about your target role, experience, education, skills — **answer in plain words**, no formatting needed. Skip anything you can't answer yet.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Generate a draft → apply">
    When you've talked enough, it says **"A resume draft has been generated"**. Click **Apply to resume** and the draft lands in your resume on the right.

<Tip>
  The draft isn't the finish line. After it's generated, keep going — [tailor it to a job](/en/guide/ai-optimize), or refine it yourself in the [editor](/en/guide/editor).

<Note>
  **Will this overwrite my content?** Guided create is for starting one from zero. If you already have a resume and just want to improve it, [Tailor to a job](/en/guide/ai-optimize) is the better fit — that proposes changes on top of your existing content.
