# Welcome to Magic Resume

> Build a professional resume with AI — start without signing up, and your data stays in your own browser by default.

**Magic Resume** helps you build a polished, professional resume fast: ready-made templates, AI that writes with you, and a live preview as you edit.

This **User Guide** assumes you're opening the app for the very first time and walks you through everything, step by step. **No technical background needed.** (Want to self-host or contribute? See the [Developer Handbook](/en/introduction) in the top nav.)

  **What does "local mode" mean?** When you're not signed in, your resume lives only in this device's browser (nothing is uploaded). Switch browsers or clear your cache and it's gone. To back up safely and sync across devices, [sign in and enable cloud sync](/en/guide/account).
